Latest News

Thee month passed from new crop 2011 and the quantity of 49,000 tons was exported from Iran to the international market within first quarter of agriculture year from October 2011 to December 2011.

SUPPLY:

By the following data, we found 114,000 tons pistachios remained in Iran on 01-Jan-2012:

• Carry in from Crop 2010                  8,000 tons
• Production New Crop 2011           170,000 tons
• Exports in Oct/Nov/Dec                 49,000 tons
• Domestic Consumption                 10,000 tons
• Shelled Pistachios                         5,000 tons

DEMAND:

In the following table, we compare the sales in first 3 month of last 5 crop years:

Crop 2011                             49,000 tons
Crop 2010                             77,000 tons
Crop 2009                             56,000 tons
Crop 2008                             24,000 tons
Crop 2007                             88,000 tons

During first 3 month of new crop 2011, the demand decreased by 36% in compare to first 3 month of crop 2010. The main reason for such decrease could be for higher prices of Iranian Pistachios in compare to US pistachio prices and game over of Iranians in Chinese Market.

MARKET:

Iranian Currency is 20% weaker than one month ago due to high pressure of Europe & USA against all Iran Financial issues. Please note UN sanction is only against Atomic & Military actions of Iran but the West Countries are imposing extra measures to all sectors.

In the other hand, in parallel with devaluation of currency, the pistachios prices inside Iran increased by over 20% in compare to one month ago. So, the offering price into international market is almost same as before and the market is warm.
